When disaster struck Nepal, our first question was simple: are the girls in Ghyangphedi safe?
Answering that question required piecing together flood data, maps, road information, local reports, and direct communication.
Fortunately, the center appears to have avoided the main catastrophic flood corridor.
But the experience highlighted something bigger: communities need both resources and better visibility during disasters.
