Catastrophic flooding has affected tens of thousands of people across Nepal, damaging homes, schools, roads, bridges, health facilities and critical infrastructure. Thousands of children are facing disruption to education while families need food, clean water, shelter, medical support and resources to begin rebuilding. The full scale of the damage is still being assessed, with Nepal's reconstruction needs currently estimated at $4 billion to $5 billion.

Nepal Is Facing a Long Recovery
Flash flooding swept through river corridors across northern and central Nepal, taking homes, roads, bridges, schools, water systems and power with it. Families who got out are living in shelters with what they carried; children are out of classrooms and communities that were already hard to reach are now cut off entirely. Relief means the basics first — clean water, food, shelter, medicine — and then the far longer work of putting a country's infrastructure back together.

The people behind the mission
It Starts With the Girls
Before this flood became a headline, Nepal was already personal to us.
Long before this flood became a headline, Nepal was already deeply personal to Compass Rose.
For years, Compass Rose has worked alongside girls, families, educators, and communities across rural Nepal. At the heart of that work is the Girls INpowerment Home in Ghyangphedi, a place created to provide education, safety, stability, and opportunity for girls vulnerable to trafficking, early marriage, and leaving school.
But the work has never stopped with the girls themselves. The Compass Rose model is designed to strengthen entire communities by creating a ripple effect from girl → family → village.
When the flooding struck Nepal, our first question was simple: Are the girls safe?
Once we knew more, the mission became bigger. Communities across Nepal are now facing damaged homes, schools, roads, bridges, and essential infrastructure. Families need immediate support, and many will need help rebuilding for years to come.
We are raising funds to help meet those needs now, using the relationships, experience, and community network Compass Rose has spent years building in Nepal.
