Policy
Donor & Refund Policy
Every gift to the Nepal Relief + Recovery Fund is received and held by Compass Rose International as fiduciary, and spent against the published ledger.
Where your gift goes
Gifts are received by Compass Rose International, recorded in the treasury, allocated against a verified need, deployed to the field, and then closed out with a receipt and field confirmation. Each of those steps is published: allocated, deployed, spent, and verified are distinct states in the ledger, and we never report a dollar as delivered impact before the field has confirmed it.
Designated gifts
- A gift designated to a specific purpose — such as the Teddy Bear Fund — is tracked on its own ledger line and spent on that purpose.
- If a designated appeal is fully funded or the need is met or changes, we will use the remaining balance for the closest comparable relief need and say so publicly in the updates feed.
- Undesignated gifts go to the general relief fund and are allocated against the highest-urgency verified needs.
Costs
Payment processors and blockchain networks charge fees that are deducted before funds reach the treasury; these are shown as costs, not as programme spend. Any administrative share retained to run the programme is disclosed in the treasury view rather than buried.
Refunds
- Card and bank gifts: if you gave in error, gave a wrong amount, or believe a gift was unauthorised, contact us within 30 days and we will refund it where the funds have not already been deployed to the field.
- Recurring gifts can be cancelled at any time; cancelling stops future charges and does not refund past ones.
- Digital-asset gifts are irreversible once confirmed on-chain and cannot be refunded as a network transaction. Where funds are still undeployed, we will work with you in good faith on the best available remedy.
- Unauthorised or fraudulent card activity is refunded in full once verified, regardless of the window.
Receipts and tax
Receipting and any tax deductibility are handled by Compass Rose International under the rules of its jurisdiction of registration. Digital-asset gifts are receipted at the value recorded when received. We cannot give tax advice — please consult your own adviser.
Anonymity and recognition
You choose whether your name appears in the public gift list. Anonymous gifts show only an amount and date. You can ask us to change how you are shown, or remove your name entirely, at any time.
Questions, corrections, and complaints
If a ledger entry looks wrong, tell us. Corrections are made in the open with the original entry preserved in the revision record.
